Zappa Plays Zappa - July 22, 2008
Club Cinema, Pompano Beach, Fl.
The apple didn't fall very far from the musical tree as Frank Zappa's guitar - weilding son Dweezil brilliantly replicates the vast 80 plus albums of the eclectic Zappa catalogue. Zappa Plays Zappa is Dweezil's living dream to proudly emulate his famous Dad and carry forth the torch of quirky, electric theater art rock classic compositions. Surrounded by a youthful, spirited band including the bass player from Hansen Zappa Plays Zappa ignited a tight set of extended jam happy versions of Frank's finest. Original Zappa vocal powerhouse Ray White's distincive delivery was the capstone to authenticity. Dweezil's electric guitar techniques reflect extensive study, dedication and a zen - like discipline of humble gratefulness. Accepting the challenge and grand opportunity to play Frank's beloved avant garde stylings is a priviledge extended only to the blood of his genius and Dweezil's love for his departed Father shines throughout the perfromance. Frank's original sound gear including effects pedels, amplifiers and other rack mounted inventions serve as Dweezil's genuine back - line. Returning to South Florida after an incredible debut at Boca's Mizner Park Amphitheatre in 2006 Club Cinema's massive sound system rocked. The extensive 2008 European tour and U.S. summer camp - festival circuit has the now generation Dweezil Zappa riding high on the tour de Frank.
